Since Turkish Airlines often offers the best prices when going to South East Asia – and I heard that sometimes they might even be your best bet going to Latin America – a short stay anywhen soon might be quite probable.
Therefore, here comes another issue of my 24 hours in… series, designated to transform a short stay like a layover into an extra vacation.
Of course, this itinerary – one for a sunny and an alternative for a rainy day – is great not only for a layover. It comes in handy for any kind of brief stay – for instance when you’re on your way to a beach vacation on the Turkish coast.

As you already know from this post, the NordArt is a very nice, annual art event. Obviously, you cannot compare it to the Biennial in Venice.
Nevertheless, they show a great variety of international artists. The NordArt has been one of the largest exhibitions of contemporary art in Europe, after all.
This Way to the Whole Story ->Safety first! D’accord, mes amis. But when cheese in your hand luggage is considered a terror weapon, things do get slightly out of hand.
Location location location: This is a roundup of some of my adventurous accommodation choices. I’ve actually made them in search of the best price-performance ratio.
After all, who doesn’t want to stay at a nice, comfortable hotel at an exceptionally low price?
I do!
However, very often, these accommodations are located in – euphemistically speaking – remote locations. The Spanish call it en el culo del diablo – in the devil’s butt.
I am not a dark tourist, the world is a somber place. I realize that almost every country I’ve visited lately had to endure terror and bloodshed related to civil war.
What does this fact say about me? And what does it say about the world we’re living in?

But seriously, what is it that you really need to take with you on your trip? Actually it’s your passport, your vaccination record, a credit card and your phone with all that matters on it.
Everything else such as clothes, toiletries, or sun gear can be replaced. You can buy almost everything in almost every country in the world. Maybe not in the desired quality, but still.
I’m by no means an advocate to buy constantly everything – and, as a matter of fact, I hate shopping.
All I’m saying is that it’s neither the end of the world nor the end of a happy vacation if you forget something.
